The first doll of 2008 from Sekiguchi is Winter Bus Stop. According to her promo material she is waiting to catch an early bus to the library and hoping to meet a sweetheart there. My very first impression on seeing the promo pics was 'dreamy'. She almost looked like a girl out of happily ever after - pretty, sweet and innocent. She is not very different in real life.
This girl comes wearing a off-white/beige hooded parka/jacket. The hood is neatly trimmed with brown fur. Underneath she wears a dark navy blue-white tunic/dress with cute white trims. She wears boots and knee length socks underneath her boots.
Below left, Momoko models the jacket with hood up. A closer look at the jacket reveals beautiful and thick material with plastic buttons and real working pockets. The jacket does not close in the front, however.
Above left, another look at the pocket and cuffs. The detail on the cuff is amazing! A look at the jacket’s back reveals a simple yet elegant design. The inside of the jacket is nicely lined with satiny material.
Momoko wears a very cute dark navy blue dress underneath her jacket. It is supposed to be a tunic over the white mock turtleneck, but it is actually one piece; the two parts are sewn together. The white trim and the cut of the dress are extremely cute and pretty. A look at the back of the dress shows the same old velcro; no buttons, hooks, nor zips yet. The velcro, however, is the “good” velcro and not the cheap frazzled type that catches on everything.
Then comes her shoes...nice Momoko boots and black knee high socks. I understand that boots are perfect for this doll, but it is getting a tad tiring to see boots over and over again. Could we have some variations in the shoe department please?
The face up on this doll is breathtaking. While only Momoko enthusiasts will understand how every Momoko is somehow different from the other, this one truly stands apart with her slightly pinkish lips, short bob, and brown eyes.
This doll from Sekiguchi is a keeper and she will be a favorite in my house for years to come.
