Yamato

Someone very special came home to me today. Special because I have been fighting the temptation to get this one for a very very long time. Even since I saw these gorgeous photos of this doll with Momoko, by this extremely creative lady on the Flickr board - I knew I had to get him. And now after a year of resistance, he is mine. This is Yamato, a Who's that girl Boyfriend.

He is a pseudo-BJD (that's my term for it), meaning there is no string inside him, but everything is ball-jointed. His limbs are super posable, he also comes with a variety of changeable arms, joints, fists. He holds poses pretty well; however, I will find out the extent of it when I start taking pics of him with other dolls.

What was very interesting to me was his face - it is made of soft material, not the hard stuff like Fashion Royalty or even Barbie.

He wears a knit sweater with shirt collars and sleeves, very nice finish and fit. He also has boxers underneath the grey corduroy pants, a great looking belt, watch and awesome shoes. And of course, the knit skull cap.

Now for a comparison with other dolls. Most importantly, here he is next to Momoko - she looks a little small next to him. But not too bad, is it?

He looks quite funny next to Lukas (Fashion Royalty Homme collection), who is so big and fearsome. Yamato is just a boy beside him.

I like his face, but his eyes bother me a little bit. I might give in and repaint his eyes, but not sure at this point. I will maybe trim his hair a bit, other than that I am happy.

Now I only hope that he will make a good boyfriend for one of my precious Momoko dolls.
